Katie Noonan and Circa Tell the Tale Of Convict Women

KN LSC med
Katie Noonan joins circus ensemble Circa in Love-Song-Circus inspired by the letters and stories of the first Australian female convicts and an ode to their strength and endurance.

The production has already been seen in Adelaide and Melbourne to high acclaim. After glowing reviews for these seasons, Love-Song-Circus is coming to Sydney for the first time in 2014. The Brisbane-based Circa joins Noonan, a four-time Aria Award winning and seven-time platinum selling artist who created this project after seeing an exhibition of love token pennies dating from 1762.

Music Viva has collaborated with Katie Noonan to provide educational material for this project. Aimed at students in Years 7-12, the hands-on resources can be used in the classroom or at the concert and will guide students through how the music was made from the stories. Click here for more.

‘Noonan’s songs give life to the courage and stoicism of young women otherwise lost as mere mentions in prison records and colonial archives… This is an accessible, highly accomplished new composition that deserves wide attention.’ The Australian

‘Impossibly beautiful. this show is a gift to our contemporary Australian culture. Pure and tragic, brutal and transcending!’ Kate Ceberano, Artistic Director Adelaide Cabaret Festival
