The musical spirit of Yuletide returns when the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra presents its Noël! Noël! annual concerts with the acclaimed Brandenburg Choir.

This year, the program returns to a more traditional selection of ‘absolute delights’ promises Artistic Director Paul Dyer, and features a  talented young singer, Bonnie de la Hunty whom Paul believes is one of the outstanding voices of the new generation of performers. She will take centre stage as soloist, the third young Perth soprano to star in Noël! Noël!

“In the early Noël! Noël! concerts, emerging sopranos Sara Macliver and Taryn Fiebig were guest soloists and they have both gone on to major careers as performers and recording artists,” says Paul. “I see a similar trajectory for Bonnie de la Hunty. She is a star on the rise and people will remember the first time they hear this magnificent young voice.”

One of the most popular Brandenburg traditions, Noël! Noël! touches on the religious but is firmly grounded in the spiritual. Paul Dyer always includes music that moves people of all faiths and beliefs, including traditional favourites like O Come All Ye Faithful and Stille Nacht, along with something fun and something thrown in to give each Noël! Noël! its own special twist.

Bonnie de la Hunty has returned to Australia after studying early music singing at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, the same school where Paul Dyer studied. “I wanted to connect with like-minded musicians when I returned to Australia and I emailed Paul to introduce myself. Less than a week later he asked me in to sing for him” she says. “I love Christmas. I bake and make decorations all through December. Now I’ll have the chance to sing incredibly beautiful Baroque and Renaissance music, as well as traditional carols, alongside the musicians and choristers of the Brandenburg.”
