Omega Ensemble Kicks Off Festive Season With The Nutcracker

Omega Ensemble kick starts the festive season with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s beloved, The Nutcracker, a special arrangement for chamber ensemble of Tchaikovsky’s ballet which celebrates the magic of one of the world’s most recognised classical pieces in an intimate setting. In 2015 Omega Ensemble has continued its second year as Ensemble in Residence at the City Recital Hall.

For The Nutcracker, the musicians of Omega Ensemble are joined by some of our country’s finest musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian World Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Opera Australia for this seasonal favourite.

Established in 2005, Omega Ensemble has positioned itself as a formidable force in Australian chamber music. With a dedication to engage the finest Australian musicians, as well as international guest artists, Omega presents some of Australia’s finest musicians in an intimate and stimulating chamber setting. As well, the ensemble is committed to present some of history’s most beautiful and treasured chamber works, alongside new commissions, rarities and unique settings of the most demanding repertoire. To date the ensemble has premiered over 24 new Australian works.

The programme includes two works by Mozart and Danish composer Carl Nielsen.
