Psycho: The Music Of Bernard Hermann

download

Join Omega Ensemble for a thrilling performance of the music of Bernard Herrmann as they open their 2016 season at the Sydney Opera House.

Celebrated as one of the most innovative film composers of all time, Bernard Herrmann created the soundtracks for some of the 20th Century’s best-known films. The highly charged music that underlies Alfred Hitchcock’s  Psycho brilliantly conveys the tension and drama of this legendary thriller.

But Hermann did not just write for cinema. After a falling out with his longtime collaborator Hitchcock he returned to concert work, writing the clarinet quintet Souvenirs de voyage and the nostalgic Echoes.

Under its Artistic Director and clarinet player David Rowden, Omega Ensemble will also perform the world premiere of a newly commissioned work Postlude for amplified string quartet, clarinet and actor by Australian composer Nicole Brady.

The programme:

HERRMANN Echoes for String Quartet

HERRMANN Psycho – A Suite for Strings

HERRMANN Clarinet Quintet Souvenirs de Voyage

NICOLE BRADY Postlude (World premiere)

Tickets: Adult $74 Conc. $59 Under 30 $29
