Resonance concerts presents 1919 – The Music of an Era! featuring masterpieces of the viola repertoire, with solo violist Ella Brinch and pianist Christopher Cartner

The year 1919 was something of an historic year for the viola.  Three works, which would come to form part of the instrument’s core repertoire, were composed within these twelve months.

Hindemith’s Sonata for Viola and Piano opus 11 no 4 is typically romantic in conception, yet forward-looking and technically thrilling.

Ernest Bloch’s Suite for Viola and Piano (first movement), is filled with soulful Hebrew themes, and is a highlight amongst a catalogue of works from Jewish composers emigrating to the USA during this time.

English composer Rebecca Clarke’s Sonata for Viola and Piano is a masterpiece of the modern viola repertoire. Resonance is proud, not only to represent a female composer within a generally male-dominated genre, but also to present this outstanding piece of music.

Ella Brinch has performed with Resonance Concerts every year since the inception of the series and is the only guest artist to have done so. She is an absolute favourite amongst audiences. Resonance invites you to join her for this unique and brilliant programme.

Concerts run for approximately one hour and are followed by complimentary drinks receptions at Lavender Bay and Annandale.

 Tickets $20/25
