The style is possibly as difficult to define as the English meaning of their name – “Arrebato”, variously translated as “fury”, “something that rises rapidly” or “a wave of emotion”. When Harry Christophers and his vocal ensemble The Sixteen perform in Sydney in March, they will include in their programme a new version of Allegri’s famous motet Miserere.
