‘Sagittarius’ – Ensemble Offspring

Sagittarius-nebula-600-x-250

On the first day of Sagittarius, Ensemble Offspring introduces its famous brand of uniquely innovative new music with Sagittarius a divine ‘zodiac’ miniature by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Returning from London for the show, Zubin Kanga teams up with his long time collaborator, Alex Pozniak in the high energy piano solo, Crush. Also featuring exciting new commissions by expat composers Jane Stanley and Kate Moore alongside Magnus Lindberg’s classic for two hulking bass drums and squealing bass clarinet, Ablauf. The striking finale piece, Workers Union by Dutch composer Louis Andriessen sees Sydney Grammar students and Ensemble Offspring members joining forces and uniting as one big bundle of musical vivacity.
