Simon Tedeschi with the North Sydney Symphony

International concert pianist Simon Tedeschi joins the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Steven Hillinger to perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the second movement (Andante) of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, K 467. As well, the orchestra will perform  The Blue Danube Waltz by J. Strauss ll, Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld and .Mythic by Elena Kats-Chernin, a short work for full orchestra written on commission from Symphony Australia for performance by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, which premiered the work conducted by Ola Rudner in 2004.

Simon Tedeschi’s career as a pianist has taken him around the world’s concert halls, into the recording studio, and into collaborations with major performers and orchestras, including Australia’s major symphony orchestras, James Morrison, Yvonne Kenny, and jazz pianist Kevin Hunt.

Steven Hillinger

The 50 strong North Sydney Symphony Orchestra hasbeen active since it was founded in 1947.  Its present conductor Steven Hillinger  is a  graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and has studied conducting with Henryk Pisarek and Johm Hopkins. He is a highly regarded conductor of professional, community and secondary school orchestas and ensembles in Sydney.
