In a programme spanning six centuries, the Choir of St James’ will explore some of the stunning choral repertoire that has taken the physical world for its theme.

From the rugged landscapes which fostered Gregorian chant to the neoclassical settings that nurtured pastorales, in turn to the electric drama of opera and tempestuous atmosphere of Sturm und Drang symphonies, the raw beauty and fearsome power of the elements have always inspired composers. IThe penultimate concert in their series A Season of Song, these works prove that music itself surely can be said to be a force of nature.
