Sydney Cello Quartet – Postcards

Sydney Cello Quartet

The Sydney Cello Quartet performs Postcards, a smorgasbord of music from around the globe, arranged for four cellos.

You’ll be transported to Eastern Europe with Bartok’s fiery ‘Romanian Dances’ and stroll through the Bohemian forest with Dvorak’s ‘Silent Woods’. Debussy’s ‘Footprints in the Snow’ will help you escape the summer heat and you can unwind to the sounds of Albeniz’s ‘Rapsodia Cubana’. Take a trip to Scandinavia with Sibelius’ ‘Finlandia Hymn’ before enjoying the sounds of Argentina with Piazzolla’s iconic ‘Libertango’.

There is more in the line-up, after which, the Sydney Cello Quartet invites you to join the musicians for some light refreshments prepared by French pastry chef Anthony Sendroiu, while enjoying the picture perfect view over Sydney Harbour from Christ Church Lavender Bay.

The cellists met at the Sydney Conservatorium in their student days, going on to study and work overseas before each building separate performing lives with major orchestras such as the Opera Australia Orchestra and The Metropolitan Orchestra. This is their third year performing together as a Quartet.
