The Choir Of St James’ Commemorates WW 1 Centenary

The Choir of St James’ commemorates the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War with Songs of Remembrance, a moving programme of works by significant British composers from the early 20th century to the present day. The impact of war and loss of life has moved generations of composers to explore profound expressions of sadness, hope and consolation. Directed by Warren Trevelyan-Jones with Alistair Nelson playing the organ, this concert expresses these sentiments through the music of Howells, Parry, Holst and other British composers of the era.

For much of its almost two hundred years of ministry The Choir of St James’ has been regarded as one of Australia’s foremost Anglican choirs. It maintains a high-profile schedule of concerts, recordings, broadcasts and international tours in addition to its regular commitment of weekly services, Orchestral Masses, recitals, and state occasions at St James’.
