The Metropolitan Orchestra and Ambre Hammond: Beethoven and Tchaikovsky

Untitled

Known as The People’s Pianist and founder of the world travelling Girl Piano Truck delivering community focused performances at remote locations across the globe, vivacious Australian Pianist Ambre Hammond will join with The Metropolitan Orchestra conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no 5, ‘The Emperor’.

Ambre has performed as a soloist around the world and has also worked with Hollywood film writer and composer Lalo Schifrin, recorded in Rudy Van Gelder’s legendary New York studios and collaborated with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, renowned Indian slide guitarist who won a Grammy Award for his album with Ry Cooder.

Completing evening’s performance is Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no 6 ‘Pathetique’. Regarded as a reflection of Tchaikovsky’s complicated life, the music reveals an intricacy of emotions from sorrow through to hope and happiness, tinged with a foreboding sense of despair.
