The Metropolitan Orchestra’s (TMO) 2020 season includes four premiere performances by Australian composers alongside orchestral classics, while continuing to showcase exceptional Australian soloists.

There will be five mainstage Met Concerts for 2020, a four-concert chamber music series in accessible and intimate venues, a Children’s Concert series with a new show written by Australian composer and TMO principal Adrian Hallam.

The year brings a new era for The Metropolitan Orchestra. After seven glorious years performing in the Eugene Goossens Hall at the ABC Centre in Ultimo, beginning in March, they move their mainstage Met Concert series to the Everest Theatre in the Seymour Centre in Chippendale.

Other highlights for the year include a new Emerging Composer Competition with first prize including both a cash reward and a world premiere live performance in TMO’s final Met Concert of the year, a 3 Family Cushion Concert series (12 performances) designed for children aged 6 months to 8 years which includes another world premiere show written by an Australian composer.

TMO will continue its relationship with the Inner West Council as a major performing arts partner and will continue supporting the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse as its selected health charity of choice.
