The Sydney Consort Starts The Year ‘Con Amore’

The Sydney Consort launches its 2014 concerts with Con Amore, a programme of popular classics which highlight the viola d’amore and oboe d’amore, with strings flute and continuo.

Opening the concert is JS Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no 5 in D major, BWV 1050, followed by his Concerto for Oboe d’amore with soloist Jane Downer. Following this is a work by an anonymous Polish Baroque composer – the Concerto in B Minor for Viola d’amore, two flutes, strings and basso continuo. The concert ends with the Concerto in E Major for viola d’amore, oboe d’amoreflute and strings Triple Concerto by Telemann, and a Concerto for Viola d’amore by an unknown composer from the Polish Baroque era.
