IFAC Singing Competition Announces Finalists

Five finalists have been selected from eleven semi-finalists to compete in this year’s IFAC Australian Singing Competition.

The finalists who are all under 26, are sopranos Kate Amos and Anna Voshege form Victoria, from Western Australia, sopranos Samantha Clarke and Corinne Cowling and New Zealand soprano Isabella Moore.

The five finalists will compete in the Finals Concert accompanied by the Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra conducted by Maestro Johannes Fritzsch. The compere for the evening will be ABC Classic FM’s Damien Beaumont.

To celebrate the 150th birthday of composer Richard Strauss the evening will feature a brief pre-concert talk by Maestro Fritzsch and special performances from  Berlioz’  Béatrice et Bénédict and R Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suite.

National Adjudicator Jeffrey Black, Michael Halliwell and Benjamin Schwartz judged the semi-final and they will be joined by 
celebrated bass Conal Coad and renowned soprano Emma Matthews to adjudicate the finals.
