Emma Matthews in recital – a programme of everything you’ve ever wanted to hear her sing!

Following her immensely popular success as Violetta in La Traviata performed on Sydney Harbour, soprano Emma Matthews takes to a more intimate venue with pianist Kate Golla under the auspices of Hunters Hill Music. The duo perform a recital at Hunters Hill Town Hall.

This week, Hunters Hill Music have announced the repertoire for the recital which is a collection of works from opera and art song and concert arias, from baroque to Bernstein.

It’s demanding repertoire from Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Faure, Duparc and Bernstein sung in English, Italian, French and German. Amongst them are arias from roles that Emma Matthews has performed for Opera Australia – most recently, Partenope’s aria ‘Just as a butterfly’ from Handel’s opera of the same name (2011), Cunegonde’s ‘Glitter and Be Gay’ from Bernstein’s Candide (Sydney Festival 2010) and Almirena’s ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ from Handel’s Rinaldo (2005).

This programme could well represent everything you’ve ever wanted to hear Emma Matthews sing!
