Leichhardt Espresso Chorus – Israel In Egypt

LECThe Inner West will get a double shot of caffeine this April as the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus divides into two for a mighty performance of one of the most famous works written for choirs – Handel’s Israel in Egypt. This energetic and exciting oratorio for double choir was an innovation in its time. The text is lifted straight from the drama of the Old Testament, with the expulsion of the Israelites, Plagues of Moses including Frogs, Flies and Fleas, and Boils and the legendary parting of the Red Sea. The entire piece culminates in a powerful jubilation in the last section – as horse and rider fall into the sea.

With over 100 singers in the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus, four outstanding vocal soloists and an 18-piece orchestra conducted by Artistic Director Michelle Leonard, it is an opportunity to hear this piece, rarely performed in Sydney.

Join the choir for a celebratory champagne after the performance.

Tickets $35/30/25. Book online at www.espressochorus.com.au.
