Live at Lunch’s Monet: The Flowers of War 1918, features the exquisite music of WWI French composers accompanied by big-screen projections of the masterworks of the Impressionist painter Monet.

Flautist and Live at Lunch Curator, Jane Rutter leads ARIA Award-winning pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska, tenor Andrew Goodwin, cellist David Pereira and violinist Christopher Latham in a performance that will bring the music of Koechlin, Jean Cras, de la Presle, Gaubert, Debussy, Ravel & Boulanger to life.

“Monet’s Flowers of War is the story of an artist losing his greatest gift – his ability to see – and so, facing the death of everything he loves, he creates more work than any other artist during the Great War,” said Jane Rutter, who in 2016 was decorated with the Chevalier des Arts et Lettres medal for her significant contribution to French culture.

“The works he created during this time include the Japanese Bridge series, Weeping Willows, Flowers, Alley of Roses and the Waterlilies, which was Monet’s contribution towards the French war effort and his way of mourning the loss of the world he knew – la Belle Époque,” she said.
