Opera Australia Young Artist Jonathan Abernethy will perform selections from Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin with pianist Andrew Greene as part of the Lunchtime Concert Series at St James’ King Street.

Jonathan made his very successful mainstage debut as Tamino in The Magic Flute at the Sydney Opera House earlier this year and is covering for Don Ottavio in Opera Australia’s upcoming production of Don Giovanni. His appearance in this role for Opera Australia/Oz Opera’s touring production of Don Giovanni was hailed as ‘a standout performance’.

Jonathan won the Opera Australia Award at the New Zealand Singing School in Napier in 2011. The following year, he was invited to join the prestigious Opera Australia Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program in Sydney. While with Opera Australia, he has also sung the roles of Ruiz in Il Trovatore, Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, and appeared as a soloist at the Sydney Opera House in Australian Opera’s Great Opera Hits
