Sunday Afternoon Bach Cantata At St James’

The Choir of St James’ invites you Cantata & Cream Tea, featuring Cantata BWV 162, Ach! ich sehe, itzt, da ich zur Hochzeit gehe (Ah! I see, now, when I go to the wedding) by JS Bach, followed by tea and scones in the crypt.

Thought to have been composed c 1715 in Weimar, this cantata has six movements, scored for a small ensemble of four soloists and an instrumental ensemble of corno da tirarsi, two violins, viola, and basso continuo. It concludes with a chorale for four voices, Ach, ich habe schon erblicket.
