Sydney University Graduate Choir, Guest Choir and Orchestra under music director Christopher Bowen OAM perform Handel’s perennial masterpiece, the oratorio Messiah.

The soloists are Anita Kyle (soprano), Tim Chung (alto), Andrew Goodwin (tenor) and David Hidden (bass). The guest choir is drawn from communities across Sydney.

Composed in 1741 and premiering in Dublin in March the following year, Messiah has become one of the best-known and most frequently performed works in the choral repertoire. With libretto by Charles Jennens based on the King James Bible and Psalms from the Book of Common Prayer, Messiah tells the story of the Nativity and the Passion through its elegant arias and mighty choruses.
