The Metropolitan Orchestra proudly announces the eight finalists of its inaugural Composer Development Program.

They are Andrei Hadap, Alison Ireland, Laura Bishop, Nigel Ubrihien, Heather Shannon, Katja Jorgensen, Yusaku Abiko and Pavle Cajic.

These eight talented NSW based composers will now enter the first two stages of the program where they will work with TMO Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams and an ensemble of TMO’s principal players to fine tune their work. Four entrants will then progress to stage three where they will workshop their pieces with the orchestra at The Eugene Goossens Hall, ABC Centre Ultimo on July 22nd.

The final stage will give the final four composers the rare opportunity to workshop their piece with a full orchestra. The workshop will be recorded and composers will receive a copy of their recorded piece. From this stage, one piece may be selected for inclusion in TMO’s 2017 Concert Season.

The final workshop at Eugene Goossens Hall, ABC Centre will be open for general audience attendance from 10am to 5pm.  Watch the process of creating sensational new music, and be the first to hear these works performed live for the very first time.
