Willoughby Symphony presents Fantasy, a concert where you can delve into a magical realm of sorcery, storytelling and true love.
Conducted by Dr Nicholas Milton AM, the concert opens with Mozart’s infamous Sinfonia Concertante, performed by two of Australia’s most exquisite instrumentalists, violinists Ji Won Kim and Caleb Wright. Following this Glinka’s exuberant Ruslan and Ludmila Overture, resplendent with its bold theme of brass, winds and strings that draw it to a dramatic conclusion.
Finally, the orchestra performs Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s spectacular symphonic narrative Scheherazade, based on the tale of the storyteller princess who tricks a murderous Sultan into letting her live by telling him 1001 enchanting tales.
