The Australian Doctors Orchestra celebrates its silver anniversary with this special fundraising event, under the baton of guest conductor Nicholas Milton and featuring soloist Slava Grigoryan playing Rodrigo’s Concerto for Guitar. The program will also include the Symphony No 10 by  Shostakovich and Ravel’s Bolero.

The ADO was founded 25 years ago by Dr Miklos Pohl. It is a unique national fellowship of over 600 medical professionals and students who are also classically trained musicians. Every year 80 to 100 medical musicians come together from all over the country to raise money for medical charities. The ADO has performed a concert every year and in every state, donating to a different medical charity each time.

For this special silver anniversary event, the ADO has chosen to support Huntington’s NSW, a not for profit organisation providing support for families impacted by Huntington’s disease, which is a rare genetic disorder characterised by involuntary movement and intellectual, emotional and behavioural problems.  If a parent has the gene, each child has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the disease. There is currently no known cure.
