The 2015 SUGS Joan Carden Award Finalists: Ashlyn Tymms, Soonki Park and Morgan Balfour with Joan Carden and Christopher Bowen.

Three singers are through to the finals of the Sydney University Graduate Choir Joan Carden Award. They are Morgan Balfour, soprano, Ashlyn Tymms, mezzo-soprano and Soonki Park, baritone. For the final round of this competition they will perform two arias with orchestral accompaniment. 

The winner will be announced following adjudication by Miss Joan Carden AO, OBE, Mr Christopher Bowen, OAM, and Mr Anson Austin OAM. The audience will also have an opportunity to vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ prize.

The Sydney University Graduate Choir and orchestra will also perform Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn’s Hiob, and three seldom performed works by Johannes Brahms, Schicksalslied, Gesang der Parzen, Nänie, which dwell on the themes of fate and destiny.
